Panama Canal Expansion

This past Sunday I had the wonderful opportunity of gathering with the Panama Porsche club to see the Progress of the Panama Canal Expansion! As I've mentioned before on my blog, my boyfriend is a huge Porsche fan; so we go to Porsche events quite regularly.

It is always fun to get together with nice people and see how passionate they are about Porsches. There were a whole lot of Porsches this time around. We were about 30 Porsches driving all together on a beautiful sunny day.

For those of you who don't know, the Panama Canal is ongoing an expansion right now to add a third set of locks. This will double the capacity of the Panama Canal by allowing larger ships to go through. Its estimated to be ready by 2014.

Although the new set of locks for the Panama Canal are not finished yet, we were lucky enough to be granted a sneak peek of their progress!

 

Its pretty cool to see history in the making. This is such a big step for Panama and I'm just so proud of all the good work we are accomplishing.

Half a day at the relaxing mountainside + half a day at a warm beach

Comments:

Today was quite an adventure! We started the day off by driving up to our house in El Valle (a breezy cool mountainside area). I spent most of the afternoon there just relaxing, reading magazines, and playing with our kitty.

After that, we drove off and I spent the rest of the day at my boyfriend's apartment in Bijao, a beach area. 

Later in the afternoon, we drove down to the beach and practiced taking pictures of the ocean waves.

It was a relaxing breezy day at the beach. The perfect time to run around and be silly :)

We finished the adventurous day with a delicious BBQ! Definitely a very fun day ;)

Punta Culebra, a little taste of Panama

This weekend, my boyfriend and I went to Punta Culebra (a nearby park that has beautiful scenery and local animals) to practice our photography skills. Many of you have asked me about Panama, so I thought it would be fun to share with all of you a couple of my favorite pictures.

I managed to take this picture of an Iguana just when it was going to eat a flower! I was so happy to get this cool picture, definitely my favorite of the day.

We also saw other animals like these huge turtles and starfish.

It has been sooooo long since I go to this area (I used to go all.the.time. when I was a kid), so I really enjoyed visiting it once again ;)
