Today's outfit is brought to you by.... a shoe! Yup, that's right, today's outfit was inspired by a shoe. I first saw these pink and orange & pink striped Pierre Hardy wedges in a magazine and I was instantly in love:

I looked them up online, and sadly they are way out of my budget...snif snif :( ... Don't you hate it when that happens? Well, since I couldn't buy the shoes, I thought I could at least be inspired by them to make this bright and fun outfit!

Here are all the ways in which I've worn this orange and pink striped dress:

Comments:

Today I decided to use the Fashion Week Panama event I went to a couple of weeks ago as inspiration for today's outfit. Do any of you remember that list of Fashion Week looks that I planned on copying? Well, today I decided to try the monochromatic all-one-color look:
07 July 20 - Dias de Moda takeaways 05 - Monochromatic (1)

On the runway, the dress, necklace, and shoes were all the same color. However, I don't own any shoes of the exact same blue of the dress, so I improvised with a darker blue... I like how they pop!

I wanted to share a recent discovery I made (which you all probably know anyway). A very easy way to make a statement in an outfit is to pile on several different necklaces you own to create one big statement necklace . They don't all have to be the same (in fact, kudos if they are different!), they just need to be different lengths. That's exactly what I tried today and I absolutely love it! I will definitely by piling on the necklaces more often.

You should all give a try! Start by piling on necklaces you already own until you find a mix that works. I bet you can all come up with great statement necklaces. If you do try it, go ahead and take a picture of it and show it to me! My email is thejoyoffashion (at) hotmail (dot) com... I would love to see it!

Here are a couple of other outfits that have a whole lot of the color blue:

Black Liz Claiborne purse: TJ Maxx
Red Jessica Simpson flats: Estampa (Panama)
Black hat: Target

Where:
Work half a day + Shopping with my mother and sister + Dinner and movie date with my boyfriend.

Comments:
Some of you have asked me how I managed to wear tights in a country as hot as Panama. Well, I only wear them on days that I know I will be indoors most of the day. In Panama, most places are air conditioned (and when I say most I really mean all of them). So wearing tights is quite acceptable.

Plus, I try to wear tights mostly at night where the weather is cooler. During the day, I wear a different version of the same outfit that is cooler and more weather appropriate. Today for example, I wore this outfit to go shopping:

Today's outfit was actually inspired by an outfit by Jessica from What I Wore. I really loved the idea of wearing colored tights with shoes of the same color; so I did the same with my burgundy tights and burgundy pumps! I like how this trick elongates my legs.

Do you ever wear colored tights with shoes of the same color?

What:
Purple dress: ? (Panama)
Faux Pearl necklaces: Pasarella (Panama)
Beige booties: From this seller on eBay
Black & White Xoxo purse: TJ Maxx

Where:
Work + Exercise

Comments:
Today's outfit is simple, but I really like the retro vintage feeling of it. I was inspired by this Polyvore outfit my sister sent me:
Instead of wearing the beige booties with a black dress, I decided to add more color with this purple dress! The funny thing is that I have made this outfit before! I even made it with the same hair do... what are the odds!?!
03 March 28 - Polyvore & The Past
Anyway, I like today's version much better! I think these beige booties and Xoxo purse look more chic than the first version of this outfit. What do you think?

I'm so in love with this burgundy and orange color combo!! I was actually inspired by one of the many images in my "inspiration folder":
Inspired By - Burgundy & Orange
(I don't have the original source for this image, sorry! Let me know if you know it!)

Instead of wearing a burgundy top with an orange skirt, I decided to incorporate burgundy with my shoes and my hat. I love how the burgundy and orange of the floral print of my purse pulls the entire outfit together.
